Oakville Symphony Board Director positions, spring and fall 2021
Oakville Symphony is a not-for-profit community orchestra performing ten times a year at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts to an almost sold-out house. With a core of ten professional musicians and 75 amateur players performing with exceptional guest soloists, the orchestra has been a key part of the Town’s cultural scene since 1967.
The 2021-22 “Conductor Showcase” season brings a spirit of renewal for audiences and musicians alike. Four short-listed guest conductors will audition to become the new Music Director in 2022-23.
The Board is currently seeking volunteer directors with qualifications in the following specific areas:
- Fundraising, marketing and/or sales
The Board of Directors is committed to supporting the Oakville Symphony through good governance and responsible fiscal management. The Board welcomes applicants of all diverse backgrounds. Oakville residents are preferred.
Directors are expected to attend nine board meetings a year, and participate in committee work related to their skills, experience and interest. Terms are three years, with a maximum of two terms being served in succession. We value your passion for the arts, and willingness to become an ambassador for the orchestra.
There is one vacancy currently available, with another two places opening up at the AGM in October 2021. We anticipate completing the recruitment process by the end of June.
