The late Colin Litton served on the Board from October 2014 to December 2020. He will be deeply missed by the directors and Oakville Symphony staff, and many others in the orchestra’s community. In the words of one board member:

“Every so often you encounter a person whose spirit exudes warmth and respect toward everybody, regardless of their age, experience or standing in the world. Colin was one of those people who made us all feel welcome. He invited, welcomed and respected everybody’s views, even though he was often the wisest and most experienced in the conversation. Though I knew him for a short time, I am grateful to have had the time with him that I did. May his spirit of inclusion and kindness remain with us always, and at the heart of the Symphony.”

Colin was a Chartered Professional Accountant, a Certified Director and a retired partner of KPMG. He served as a director on the boards of several public and private entities.

During his career with KPMG Colin was engaged in providing accounting, finance, audit and consulting services to a wide range of businesses and not-for-profit organizations in Canada and internationally.

He and his wife, Helen, have been active volunteers in the Oakville community where they have lived with their two daughters for the last thirty five years. They have been long-time subscribers to the Oakville Symphony, and Colin used his professional experience to assist with the financial affairs of the orchestra and longer term strategic planning.
