Rio Hassan has been playing the violin since the age of 5 where he studied with Rachael Mellado of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. Upon moving to Canada, Rio continued his violin studies with Jean Grieve, a founding member of the OSO and the Oakville Suzuki Association, and then with Pierre Gagnon, also a member of the OSA.   From a young age, Rio has performed in various chamber ensembles and played in the Oakville Symphony Youth Orchestra from 2010 to 2015. Rio has volunteered and worked as a camp leader at the Oakville Suzuki summer camp for the past four years. Rio currently studies with Adele Pierre and has completed his RCM 9.   Rio’s education began at the Lycée Français in Asia; he is continuing his French education in Oakville at École Sainte-Trinité where he will graduate next year with a bilingual diploma. Rio’s future goals are to study Business at University and with that degree he wants to pursue a career that encompasses his love of cars and world travel.
