Oakville Symphony Youth Orchestra

The Oakville Symphony Youth Orchestra is a diverse community welcoming children and youth to a progressive orchestral experience that ignites, encourages and enriches a life-long love of music while also helping them develop self-esteem, discipline, teamwork, leadership and performance skills.

The Oakville Symphony is pleased to be affiliated with the OSYO, providing further opportunities for young musicians to learn and grow.

Within the Oakville Symphony Youth Orchestra, there are four ensembles:

• The Symphony is the senior group in the OSYO family of ensembles, open to high school and post-secondary instrumentalists. Members of the Symphony also participate in smaller chamber ensembles including string orchestra, brass choir and chamber groups.
• The Philharmonia is a string orchestra for advanced elementary through high school students.
• The Sinfonia is our youngest string ensemble, offering young players their first taste of orchestral music.
• The Youth Band is open to young musicians with at least 1 full year experience in winds, brass and percussion.

Auditions are held every September for all ensembles. On occasion, special auditions may be held to fill vacant positions throughout the year.
