Virtual Recital Series: Kendra and Maya Grittani, Cello Duo

Kendra Grittani
Kendra Grittani is a professional cellist and recent graduate with a Masters degree in cello performance from the Schulich School of Music at McGill University. Kendra recently moved to Toronto and is growing her business as a freelance musician and teacher. She performs regularly with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Thunderbay Symphony Orchestra and Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony.
In 2018, Kendra Grittani’s Piano Trio was awarded first place in the McGill University Chamber competition and participated in two international residencies, in Salzburg, Austria and Nice, France, the following summer. Maya Grittani
Maya Grittani is a 17-year-old, experienced young cellist, having started playing at only two years old.
Maya has completed her grade 10 Royal Conservatory Exam receiving First Class Honours with Distinction.
Maya has performed with various orchestras including the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra, where she is principal cellist, the Academy Chamber Orchestra, the Oakville Symphony, the Oakville Symphony Youth Orchestra, the Etobicoke School of the Arts Chamber Orchestra, and the Thomastik-Infeld Canadian String Orchestra.
Recently after forming the piano trio, Trio Capriccio, the chamber group swept the Kiwanis Local and Provincial Competitions. Shortly thereafter, they had the opportunity to perform at the 2019 National Competition in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan where they won first prize in the Chamber category. Maya was also the recipient of the National Arts Centre Award for Most Outstanding String Player in 2017 and in 2018.
Maya is currently a student at the Phil and Eli Taylor Academy at the Royal Conservatory of Music where she studies with Paul Widner. She is aspiring to pursue a career in classical music. Maya hopes to attend a University for cello performance and receive a Bachelors in music.
