Internationally acclaimed violinist Jonathan Crow returns to Oakville to perform Walton’s electrifying Violin Concerto, a work of sweeping lyricism and dazzling virtuosity. The program explores music that captivates the imagination, from Saint-Saëns’ eerie Danse macabre to the unstoppable rhythmic force of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7. Two Canadian voices also take the stage: Carmen Braden’s atmospheric Blood Echo and a world-premiere orchestral work by Felipe Téllez, commissioned by the Oakville Symphony.

Music inspired by dance, tradition, and cultural legacy takes centre stage. The evening begins with the elegance of two Strausses, from the beloved Blue Danube to the sumptuous waltzes of Der Rosenkavalier. Violinist Lynn Kuo performs the world premiere of Felipe Téllez’s Violin Concerto, co-commissioned by the Oakville Symphony. The concert culminates in Florence Price’s Symphony No. 4, presented here in the first performance by a Canadian orchestra, a landmark work blending the symphonic tradition with African-American musical heritage.

Guest artists: the Theatre Sheridan stars!
Stories of imagination, resilience, and daring unfold across a vivid orchestral landscape. The program features the shimmering colours of Ravel’s Daphnis et Chloé Suite No. 2 and the dramatic finale “Festival at Baghdad,” from Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade, music inspired by legendary tales of survival and storytelling. In collaboration with Theatre Sheridan, rising musical theatre performers join the orchestra for selections from Stephen Sondheim’s Company. Canadian composer Katerina Gimon’s Roots Beneath and Sibelius’ evocative Oceanides complete this journey through music inspired by myth, nature, and the human spirit.

The season concludes in a celebration of brilliance and virtuosity. Pianist Jarred Dunn brings passionate lyricism to Schumann’s Piano Concerto in A minor, one of the Romantic repertoire’s most beloved works. Soprano Teresa Tucci joins the orchestra for Mozart’s radiant Exultate, jubilate, a work of exuberant joy and vocal brilliance. The program also features Beethoven’s heroic Egmont Overture, John Estacio’s moving Avé, and the dazzling orchestral showpiece Capriccio Espagnol by Rimsky-Korsakov, bringing the season to a brilliant and festive close.
