April 1st & 2nd concert news and program notes

We warmly welcome a new Allegro-level concert sponsor, Globant, for our spring concert Sibelius Symphony No. 2 at the Oakville Centre. Join us on Saturday April 1 at 7:30pm or Sunday April 2 at 2pm for another special evening and afternoon of live music.

Our guest soloist, Bryan Allen, is a familiar face to many as he has often performed with the Oakville Symphony as a guest percussionist. Bryan has close ties with the orchestra as his father Heath Allen is Principal Horn with the OS, and his mother Caron Allen is a conductor with the Oakville Symphony Youth Orchestra.

As part of Oakville Symphony’s outreach program back in 2018, Bryan helped members of a local Beaver Scout group earn their Music badge, with some highly enthusiastic participation by the boys.

In April Bryan returns to the orchestra for a performance of Rosauro’s spectacular Marimba Concerto. The concert will begin with Johann Strauss Jr’s masterpiece overture Die Fledermaus, and features the magnificent Symphony No. 2 by Finnish composer Jean Sibelius.
