Eila O’Neil is a Grade 12 student at Oakville Trafalgar High School. She has studied violin for over 10 years with Janet Pasila. Eila was a member of the Oakville Symphony Youth Orchestra from 2014-19, and concertmaster of their Sinfonia and Philharmonia during her Grade 8 year. Eila has won awards at numerous music festivals including 1st place at the Ontario Music Festival Association Provincial Competition for Grade 6 and 7 strings in 2016 and 2017 respectively.
Eila has been a teen mentor for young violinists since 2017, and continues to share her love of music as the founder and leader of the OTHS String Ensemble. Eila is also an avid bird bander, and has received youth awards for environmental activism, birdwatching, and volunteering in the community.
