Else Sather started playing cello when she was eight years old, after a cellist’s presentation at her elementary school inspired her. She began lessons with local teacher Jo-Anne Goyder, and the positive experience she had ignited a passion for cello playing. She continued her studies with the Madawaska Quartet’s Amber Ghent. In the spring of 2022, she completed her bachelor’s degree in cello performance at the University of Toronto under the instruction of Toronto Symphony Orchestra’s principal cellist, Joseph Johnson.

A big fan of orchestral music, Else has played in many youth, amateur, and semi-professional orchestras, giving her the opportunity to perform in California, China, and closer to home, around Ontario. Else’s love for playing also extends to the nonclassical world of musicals. She has enjoyed playing in the pit band for various musicals.

In addition to ensemble playing, Else is passionate about teaching. She is a Suzuki-certified cello teacher and currently teaches at the Suzuki String School of Guelph and Klaudia’s Music Studio in Oakville.
