Jacob Caporiccio is a grade eleven student at Abbey Park High School. His passion for music began at a very young age when he was learning violin and piano. Jacob later began to study the flute, and his connection with the instrument was immediate.

Jacob has held the position of Principal Flute with the Oakville Symphony Youth Orchestra since 2019. He is also a member of the Hamilton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and has participated in various wind ensembles, including the Oakville Youth Band and Halton Intermediate Winds. He is currently preparing for his Grade 10 Royal Conservatory Examination with his teacher, Leslie Newman.

Although a virtual year, Jacob was involved in many online performances, including the Halton Young Musicians Competition, where he was named one of the “Top 10 Halton Young Musicians”. The opportunity to study and perform Peteris Vasks’ Landscape With Birds for this competition has fuelled his love of contemporary music.

In his free time, Jacob is a committed composer and arranger, with a particular dedication to works for the flute.
